His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali was sworn in as Guyana's Ninth Executive President on August 2, 2020. Born in Leonora, West Coast Demerara, Dr. Ali holds multiple advanced degrees and has demonstrated exceptional leadership across key government portfolios.
Previously serving as Minister of Housing and Water and Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Dr. Ali implemented the most extensive housing endowment campaign in Guyana's history. In the National Assembly, he served as chair of the Public Accounts Committee and as a leading spokesperson on economy and finance.
Under his leadership, Guyana has emerged as one of the world's fastest-growing economies, driven by responsible resource management and strategic bilateral partnerships — including an ever-deepening relationship with Canada.
